Can AI help me do cool things? Today?

Yes! I got ChatGPT Pro on Wednesday evening (2 days ago), and blown away at what I have been able to do.

I plan to make a post about each project I have been working on, but today I wanted to merely change over my website management from my prior workflow in RStudio to Codex + VSCode.

I am not using ChatGPT to write blog posts, but I am using it to maintain the infrastructure for my personal website and do other hobby projects.

So far what I have worked on (not comprehensive):

  • creating a homeschool curriculum for enrichment for my boys for this summer

    • I had lots of prior materials around, and it was easy to toss these into a chat and then move forward on creating plans based on prior research
  • cleaning up my Paprika recipes

    • I have tons of recipes but they have a million different ways of writing onions, potatoes, etc so I want to clean this up and normalize en masse to have better grocery list output from my recipes
  • created a spelling list generator

    • I am using a google sheet that ChatGPT can access and edit(!!!) as a word back and setup a way to easily export it to Quizlet

Handling problems

Because maintaining a website when you don’t really know how to do anything is hard, I often struggle when I create a new blog post because inevitably something breaks because updates or who knows what. Today as I tried to render this and publish it, I could not see anything in the browser for rendering of a preview. This has happened on occasion and it is usually so difficult to troubleshoot. Codex did it for me in a few minutes!
